Jen Paice

Managing Director

I have joined Cornerstone Asset Management as Managing Director to support the growth of the business. Before joining Cornerstone, I was MD of HRC Recruitment and before that was SafeDeposits Scotland’s first CEO, and successfully led SafeDeposits to be the country’s leading tenancy deposit scheme, winning IoD Director of the Year, Third Sector.

I started out as a Physiotherapy graduate. After university I moved to Oxford in 2000 as a Sales Graduate for Snowdrop Systems, a growing entrepreneurial technology business based in Oxford. After 7 years I moved to New York as Vice President of Scottish Development International’s financial services team. This position was focused on promoting and growing Scotland’s Financial Services sector. On my return I went to work with RBS and was promoted to Chair of the RBS Lombard CSR Board and Director of Origination within Lombard Asset Finance. As a huge supporter of Scotland’s Third Sector, I am proud to be Chairperson of One Parent Families Scotland, the leading charity in Scotland working with single parent families. As a single parent I want to give something back.

Scott Macphail

Client Asset Manager

I joined Cornerstone in 2010 and have over 25 years of financial services experience from administration to paraplanning. I work alongside our Investment Committee and advisory team managing all elements of our Firm’s investment activity to ensure that our investment propositions meet the high standards that we expect for our clients. It is my responsibility to ensure that client monies are administered properly from the moment of receipt, throughout the duration of investment and up to the point where they are withdrawn. No two days are the same in this varied role, from liaising with fund managers and investment partners and taking full responsibility for all dealing and trading functions within Cornerstone, to monitoring our investment platforms and the performance of our investment solutions and everything in between.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and have a keen interest in music and films.

Rebecca Kowalski

Compliance Manager

I have worked for several leading IFA firms during my 20 years in Scotland. My financial services experience covers administration and providing advice until settling on paraplanning as a profession whilst bringing up my three children. I am very committed to the profession and was delighted to win the first Paraplanner of the Year award in 2008, the Personal Finance Society Chartered Awards Paraplanner of the Year 2014 and Professional Adviser Paraplanner of the Year 2016. The latter two awards both reflect my achievements, professional development and support while part of the Cornerstone team. I am a Chartered Financial Planner and Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Outside work, I am busy with my youngest daughter’s musical career as “Manager” and actively involved in local community events. If there is any time remaining, I try to keep fit.

Nigel Payne

Paraplanning Manager

I began my financial services career with Abbey National in 1997, as a Financial Planning Manager. Having originally followed the Chartered Institute in Banking qualification route, as a financial adviser with Aviva I obtained my Chartered Insurance Institute Diploma in Financial Planning in 2008. I have since been employed as a regulated trainer, para planner and compliance manager, and obtained additional financial qualifications as determined by these roles.

Originally from Blackpool, my changing personal circumstances have seen me live in the south-east of England for 14 years, and I have so far lived in Glasgow for 13 years. I am married to Yvonne and we have a six-year old daughter, Jessica-May. Outside of work and family, I am a keen Manchester United fan and foody.

Claire Logue


Claire joined Cornerstone from Oval Financial Services and has 15 years’ experience in the industry. Her financial experience covers administration and paraplanning.

She is currently working towards her Diploma in Financial Planning.

Outside of work, Claire enjoys going to the gym, listening to music and the occasional shopping trip!

Our aim is to ensure the advisers have the assistance necessary to focus on managing our client’s financial goals and at the same time making sure clients have a point of contact in the company for any day to day enquiries.

I started working in financial services after graduating with a degree in History from the University of Edinburgh in 2015. I enjoy my work because of the attention to detail and high level of organisation it requires and I look forward to progressing further in my role and within the world of financial services. I started with Cornerstone in July 2017 and I love working with such a professional yet fun and lively team.

Outside of work I enjoy travelling with my husband or spending time at home with our cat, Ragnar and a mountain of books.

I joined Cornerstone in August 2016 and it is by far the best decision I have made career wise. I work with a lovely team of people who are very welcoming and friendly.

My role at Cornerstone is to provide a high level of administration to ensure everything is accurate and up to date, not forgetting my passion for looking after our clients and making sure they receive an exceptional service. I have been in the finance industry from September 2014 since leaving retail.

I love the everyday challenges my jobs have brought over the last 2 years and I am sure I will be faced with more throughout my career here.
