To Cornerstone, running a business is about more than just numbers. Every member of our team agrees that we share responsibility with our local community for the environment and social issues. In 2014, we started our Charity Committee made up a mix of partners and staff from both of our offices. The Committee meet on a regular basis to discuss upcoming events and fundraising ideas.
Its not only our business we are passionate about; our selected corporate charity Venture Scotland, a group which supports young people who face complicated problems. Through an outdoor based personal development programme, these young people are mentored and motivated to learn new skills, work as a team and fulfil challenges. They are then able in turn to use the experience and skills they have acquired to help other youngsters who face similar issues.
“a neutral space for barriers to come down”
For the third year we will be supporting Venture Scotland as our main corporate charity and hope to continue to make a real difference to the lives of a number of young people, who deserve a second chance. In addition to financial contributions, one of our partners is actively involved in supporting young people through the program.
The team of personal development staff at Venture Scotland work in partnership with over 150 volunteers to deliver the programme in Edinburgh and Glasgow. The volunteers motivate, inspire and mentor young people. They encourage young people to volunteer as they progress through the programme, enabling them to make the leap from being supported to making a contribution to others. Whilst volunteering, young people are supported to access education, training and employment.

The Charity Committee have met to plan Cornerstone’s fundraising initiatives for 2016.
This year we will host our second Charity Golf Day at The Royal Burgess Golf Club. If you are interested in hearing more details about this event, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
In 2014, we started our fundraising efforts with a climb of Schiehallion, which raised over £2,500 and required some our team to don hiking boots for the first time. A Charity Golf Day took place at The Royal Burgess to raise further funds. We rounded off our first year of fundraising by running a Fantasy Investment Competition, where entrants managed their own fantasy portfolio of virtual money with the aim of generating the best overall return in a fun, competitive environment against friends and colleagues.
2015 saw Cornerstone become the official sponsor of the Glencoe Marathon Gathering supporting our chosen charity Venture Scotland together with the events existing charity partner Project Northern Lights. Over 1000 participants took part in the event. Cornerstone introduced “ The Cornerstone Canter” to the line up which was a 13 mile walk for those who were not geared up for the marathon, half marathon of 10k. The gathering was a success raising vital funds for both deserving charities.
